Mynd is a medical device designed to be used in the home healthcare environment.
Mynd uses TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) for the treatment and prevention of frequent episodic and chronic migraine headaches.
The device is positioned carefully on the forehead (about 1cm above the eyebrows). Through the dedicated Mynd Gel Pads, electrical impulses are transferred to the trigeminal nerve via the supraorbital and supratrochlear never branches.
These impulses disrupt and reduce the transmitted migraine signals and therefore the headache the patient experiences.
Regular use of Mynd can also lead to the improvement of the migraine-triggering threshold and hence have a preventative effect.
Mynd has two programmes:
1) Treatment
2) Prevention
The Treatment programme is used during a migraine attack to create a sedative effect on the nervous system which leads to pain relief. The programme has a duration of 60 minutes and should be applied when the migraine is present or when the first signs of the next migraine attack are felt. The Prevention programme should be used daily to reduce the frequency and intensity of headaches and migraine attacks. The programme lasts for 20 minutes.
